When Mexican architect Javier Senosiain first saw this cave, he was struck by its resemblance to a snake’s mouth. He realized the cave looked like a giant serpent emerging from the mountain. Over time, this vision inspired the creation of the full Quetzalcóatl structure.

This unique design gave birth to one of the world’s most extraordinary hotels. The complex features ten individual apartments, each adorned with original art and surrounded by lush gardens. It’s an ideal place to relax or meditate while immersed in nature and creativity.

Quetzalcoatl’s Nest is an integral part of Parque Quetzalcóatl in Naucalpan. The “nest” blends seamlessly with the park’s serpent-themed design, allowing visitors to experience the larger artistic vision while exploring the surrounding gardens, caves, and winding pathways.

Quetzalcoatl’s Nest

Quetzalcóatl’s Nest is an architect-designed apartment for up to eight guests, part of an extraordinary sculpture garden and complex. The structure resembles a serpent weaving through the caves of Naucalpan de Juárez, just north of Mexico City.

The fantastical snake-shaped building was created by renowned Mexican architect Javier Senosiain. Its design is inspired by nature and constructed to have minimal environmental impact, blending seamlessly with the surrounding terrain and preserving the natural landscape.

Working with the irregularly shaped land, filled with caves and vast oak trees, presented challenges but also inspiration. Senosiain noticed the natural shape of a cave mouth resembled a living animal, which sparked the idea for the entire serpent-like structure.

The architect created a magnificent snake head, 50 x 6 meters. Its gaping mouth forms a giant cave, giving the structure a dramatic entrance. Despite the ambitious design, the surrounding foliage and natural landscape remain largely untouched, preserving harmony with nature.

Twisting walkways wind through Quetzalcóatl’s Nest, offering visitors spectacular views of ravines, canyons, and the lush gardens below. Every curve and pathway enhances the feeling of moving within a living serpent while remaining connected to the natural surroundings.
